Job Description

Occupational Health Activities:
Promotes and follows up the implementation of Occupational Health programmes in the Refinery and
associated facilities.
Coordinates Walk Through Surveys to identify physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic and psychosocial hazards such as noise, radiation, isocyanides, moulds and legionella.
Carries out health surveys on various sites, plants and facilities to assess health hazards and develops necessary action plans to prevent, eliminate and control any existing health hazards.
Participates in accident investigations for occupational injuries and illnesses.
Compiles Refinery illness and exposure statistics and assists in the preparation of the annual Occupational Health performance reports.
Assists in coordinating medical surveillance of employees exposed to specific hazards and prepares occupational health programmes.
Advises management on health protection related matters including national and international occupational health protection regulations.
Participates in various occupational health related committees and seminars, with ADNOC Main, the Health Authority and other relevant external organisations.
Develops systematic health screening, and medical examination plans and schedules regular visits to plants and facilities exposed to potential health hazards.
Prepares occupational health related reports for management, such as biological statistical analyses and occupational health protection performance reports.
Assists the Senior Occupational Health Specialist to develop, maintain and update the occupational health policies and related procedures and guidelines.
Coordinates Walk Through Surveys to identify physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic and psychosocial hazards such as noise, radiation, isocyanides, moulds and legionella.
Directs the Occupational Health Technicians in the use of industrial hygiene instruments, reviews risk matrices and work place monitoring records.
Reviews suggestions for modifications and new control measures.
Develops and implements Occupational Health Training and awareness programmesas per company objectives.
Suggests improvements to the Emergency Medical Preparedness Plan.
Analyses the competency of First Aiders and ensures the availability of First Aid boxes.
Prepares health bulletins, awareness brochures and emails.

Compliance Contribution:
Develops Occupational Health procedures within ISO requirements.

Participates in monthly HSE inspections and QHSE audits.

Ensures Occupational Health compliance with Health Safety and Environment legal and regulatory authorities.

Coordinates with other departments to ensure health regulation compliance during the different phases of new projects.

Assists the Senior Occupational Health Specialist in the preparation and updating of the HSE Management System and follows up on GAPS fulfilment.

Training and Development:
Mentors Section Developees, in accordance with the company's Emiratisation policy.
Keeps abreast of advances in relevant practices through discussions with consultants, occupational publications and self-development.
Shares knowledge with Section staff.

Health Safety Environment and Fire Procedures:
Knows the Company's Health, Safety, Environment and Fire Policy, Procedures, Regulations and Objectives and implements them in the workplace.

Budget:
Assists in the preparation of the Safety Section preliminary annual capital and operating budgets and reports variances from the approved budgets.

Miscellaneous:
Performs other similar or related activities as assigned.

Job minimum Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in medicine, preferably an Occupational Health physician plus a Certificate in Industrial Health and an Associate Fellow in Industrial Health.
Certification in CPR and Basic Life Support and Advanced First Aid.

Work Experience:
7 years' experience in Occupational Health preferably in the oil and gas industry.
Comprehensive understanding of Occupational Health and related compliance requirements.
Knowledge of refinery production operations and processes, including related health risks.
Knowledge of UAE, ADNOC and international occupational health standards and regulations.
Excellent interpersonal communication and problem solving skills.
Ability to prepare and conduct formal presentations.
Good command of oral and written English. Arabic language is preferable.
