Lead Medic

The Chevron-operated Gorgon Project, currently under construction, is one of the world’s largest natural gas projects and Australia’s largest single resource project. It will develop the Greater Gorgon
Area gas fields, Australia’s largest-known natural gas resource and includes the construction of a gas plant on Barrow Island off the north-west coast of Western Australia. Chevron is looking for creative and experienced people to join the Gorgon Operations team.

Chevron Australia has an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse or paramedic to take on the role of Lead Medic as part of the Health and Medical team. In this role you will be responsible for the clinical governance and on site management of the medical service on Barrow Island.

This role will be offered on a two year fixed term contract.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Stakeholder engagement and representation of medical services on key committees and issues
  • Manage the clinical governance of medical service provision on Barrow Island
  • Multi-disciplinary team engagement with Operations, Health, Environment and Safety (HES) and Construction personnel
  • Conduct audits of all medical service provisions
  • Manage onsite medical resources including staff, equipment, consumables and medications
  • Ensure the medical service fulfils legislative and licensing obligations
  • Gather data and report on key performance indicators and compliance
  • Provide operational input into emergency medical planning
  • Develop and lead medical emergency response training and emergency management exercises
  • Work collaboratively with the Health and Safety teams in the areas of public health surveillance that requires clinical input
  • Oversee onsite case management
  • Implement and report on surveillance program(s) such as audio
  • Commitment to health, environment and safety and Chevron best practices

    Key skills and experience required:

  • Strong clinical background with critical care experience
  • Demonstrated experience working in a managerial capacity / team leader
  • Remote nursing/paramedic experience would be highly regarded
  • Experience in mass casualty emergency management preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate strong governance and management skills
  • Self motivated, with the ability to work autonomously
  • Confident and clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with a diverse range of individuals across all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and build key relationships that contribute to high-class business results
